I want to also congratulate the Rocky Mount team for winning the State title today. What a class act all of the players and coaches are. One of our fellow posters and good friend of mine sons had a heck of a performance in game one of the series. SoutherN01 son Jim Leggett who is headed to Belmont Abbey with Florida Fans son next year was awesome. He threw a complete game 3 hitter in game one to get the RM team off to a 1-0 lead in the series.

The MVP of the series was Brian Goodwin an 09 CF who has verballed to UNC. This kid put on a show at the plate and in the field all weekend. PG has him rated in the top 10 of the 09 class. He certainly showed why he is this weekend.

Congrats to Rocky Mount , Coach Pat Smith and to SoutherN01!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks a bunch guys. My son is very blessed to be able to end his high school career like this. RD, did you watch it from your back yard? I bet if you get on a good high spot you can see the stadium. And, get this rd. After buying that Stalker from you, all Jim could ever coax out of it was 87. With Coach May as my witness, Jim hit 90 on the stadium gun a couple of times. Even though I think the gun was flawed, I DID get to see it a couple of times. That was a thrill for me. Thanks to Coach May for supporting our boys all the way. Really appreciate it Kenny.
Hey QL. I was not able to come to any of the games due to other commitments but I would have been there otherwise. Jim is a class act and a great pitcher. I'll never forget the HR my kid hit off him ! :-) I really hope everything works out well with his arm. That stadium gun tends to be a few mph off the mark. I've noticed that from watching the scouts with their Stalkers and comparing. Probably has something to do with the beam angle. Do you still have your Stalker ? I miss it. It was fun to get a true reading on arm strength and be able to debunk the many myths that fly around about how hard some kid can throw. If you ever want to get rid of the gun and the display board let me know, I may try to get it back. Anyway....congrats again on the fantastic accomplishments of the Gryphons. It's great for our conference as well. Next year will be fun with a top prospect like Goodwin in the area. I figure RM is going to make a strong run at a repeat with all the talent and fine coaching down there ! Best of luck in the future.

PS: Coach May if your reading this I was wondering if you are familiar with our 2010 RHP Shields ? He has quite a bit of potential and held RM in check for 5 innings in one of our meetings last season. He also K'd Goodwin at least twice if I remember correctly. He's currently with Wilson legion. Give him a look if you get the chance.
Thanks QL. Yes, it was a horrible injury. Not to toot my own kids horn but I get teary just thinking about the gut that boy had to come back from that, and he never complained or whined or said why me. I am very proud of him for that. And he actually had a decent senior season after he learned to run again. Anyway...hats off to Jim, he's a good baseball player and a great kid. Best of Luck to him at Belmont Abbey.
