Congrats to Blake for being named Baseball America's 2006 Youth Player of the Year. Blake and his family will be flying to Orlando December 5th for a recognition gala that will also honor Ken Griffey Jr. with a Lifetime Achievement Award. Also, Blake's family has said that he has signed his letter of intent with the University of Oklahoma. Clearly, it was a great week for the Beavan family.

Thank you "Hawkman", it WAS truly a great week for the Beavan family. We are very proud of Blake and very excited. Thanks for the comment!
Congrats to Blake and family and the other recent OU baseball signees from an OU baseball parent. The OU baseball program is on the upswing and thanks to assistant coach and recruiting coordinator Tim Tadlock OU is finally going after more and more Texas recruits which has been long overdue. There is nothing wrong with a Texan playing for OU. Heck, I am a UT grad and have been cheering for OU since my son chose to play baseball for the Sooners. The OU athletic website has a very nice article regarding the recent OU baseball signees at soonersports.com.

GO SOONERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Kody Kaiser transferred this year because he wanted to play a different position than the coaches felt he was suited for. That is the bottom line regarding that situation. He has had numerous "off the field" incidents and believe me the OU players are not missing him this season. If the players were unhappy with the program there would be a mass exodus of players and that is not the case. Actually, the talent level of recruits is growing stronger every year. This coaching staff is hardnosed and not every player is suited for that kind of environment but you can't deny that OU baseball has prospered under this coaching staff in the last couple of years. They are very young this year but this staff will get the most out of them and I expect they will be very successful.

GO SOONERS!!!!

Congratulations Blake. My oldest attended and played at BB Irving and if we were still there, the other two would also, so I keep an eye on Irving. But I have to ask, why OU?

Well let me shine some light on why Blake chose to sign with OU. Sometimes a person has a real good feeling about something and after Blake's visit to OU and comparing it to all the other visits and conversations with several others he narrowed it down to the following:

After being asked that now from every scout that has visited and others I actually learned some very important information about OU and their baseball program. They have great facilities and a real good pitching coach. Last year they were 4 innings from going to Omaha with a very young team. They had the best defense percentage in the Big 12 and most of the country. And that is a mighty important statistic when you are a pitcher! They also had best team batting average of the Big 12.

So I would say that Blake made a very smart decision by committing to OU. GO SOONERS!
