Congrats to the Longshots for making to Farmington. It is suppose to be a great tournament. Good luck and keep us updated.

Midland played a game against my son's team this summer, they're good.

As far as the Midland Redskins are concerned, it's the only tournament. Winning this tournament is their mission from day one.

The tournament begins Friday Aug 1 and runs through the following Friday, Aug 8. The first Longshots game is Saturday evening.

There's a great matchup on opening night when the East Cobb Yankees plays the Midland Redskins. Those teams (and all the rest, I would guess) are loaded with outstanding talent. This week should be a lot of fun.

sounds good, is it double elimination? that is an outstanding first round matchup between 2 teams who have great thoughts about winning this thing.

Longshots drop their first game 9-1. Joe Turek hit a homerun for the Longshots.

They faced a LHP throwing 92-93 and who apparently had a very good curveball who is going to USC next year.

They play tomorrow night at 7:30 against, I believe, the host team, the Farmington Cardinals.

there must be some serious talent in this thing because the Longshots can swing it with anyone. Turek has been tearing it up all year, North Central got a steal if he's still committed there.

Connie Mack is always made up of the best talent in the country and this past game shows it. I mean, you've got the Midland Redskins, the East Cobb Yankees, the Florida Legends ... the list of the teams there is just amazing.

that's great stuff, wonder if Hosmer played for Midland all summer? Wonder how many other first round picks are in this and how many are just here this weekend or have been on their teams all year. Sounds like a great experience for these kids.

When you're speaking about Midland or the other top programs in the US, it isn't about if they played all season or not. These teams operate differently than most, and to try and analyze it would be merely conjecture.

There is a roster deadline for the CM tournament, and after that date no players can be added.

Longshots are eliminated after dropping their second game to the Farmington Cardinals. Not the way they would have liked it to turn out, I'm sure, but just making it down there is more than a LOT of teams have to say for themselves.

I guess I don't understand how they operate. Sounds like they just recreut a team for these end of the year national tournaments, similar to what Bergen does. It's like an all-star team or like the Yankee's where they just hand pick kids from across the nation. I guess that really shows how well the Longshots did by making this tournament because they took kids that have been with them all year round and didn't go hand pick ringors. Makes a great accomplishment even better.

Hosmer played for Midlands all summer, he lived with one of the coaches.

I don't know if the Midlands or EC Yankees really need to pick up players, what they already have is enough to win it.

The Redskins don't recruit a team for end of the year tournaments. They recruit a team committed from day one to winning the Connie Mack WS and that begins from their very first tournament of the season, many of which they host themselves. There are some high profile events written about in this forum, but for Midland there's really only one, and that's in Farmington, NM. The above link says it all.

EC Yankees win the CMWS.

Midland had to defeat EC twice last night to win the championship and defeated EC 7-4 in the first game. EC comes back and wins the 2nd game 4-2. Fifth title for EC as Midland was going for their 11th!
