The 2 Dback teams are mostly 18s along with Patriots Stout and Yankees. Everyone else looks to be mostly 17s. Where are all the 18s playing?
In a back and forth affair DPats 18 beat the Frozen Ropes 8-7. This was a match-up of the remaining 3-0 teams in the tourney. 5 teams remain with the DPats 18's as the only 4-0 team. The other 4 are 3-1. They drew for a bye last night and the FR got the bye. Today's games are at Flower Mound HS at 10, 12 and 5. DPats 18 play DBat McCabe at noon.
Yankees beat DBacks Beck. I dropped by to watch the 5:00 game and the Frozen Ropes pitcher was dominating. I never got his name but he had 12 or 13 strikeouts. He gave up a run in the first on a rbi 2B and Dean had a single but that was it. He cruised after that. The Yankees pitcher was equally effective, only giving up 2 or 3 hits. He had 9-10 strikeouts as well. Frozen Ropes trailed 1-0 in the bottom of the 6th and got a leadoff hit. The coach played for the tie and bunted them over with 2 strikes. Then a triple plated the run to tie it. Next hitter popped a sac fly out to center to take a 2-1 lead. The FR pitcher struck out the side including Dean and Ewing to seal it.

Patriots and Frozen ropes play at 10 tomorrow
Patriots beat Frozen Ropes 2-1 today. Both pitchers threw the ball well. It was a tough day for the hitters as the wind was blowing in quite hard. Patriots scored 2 in the 2nd and Frozen Ropes scored 1 in the 3rd. Frozen Ropes had a chance in the 5th to tie it when they got a two out hit with a man on second. Very close play at the plate. The Patriots left fielder made a very good throw. The runner beat the throw and appeared safe. The umpire banged him out. From where I was sitting he might not have touched the plate, it was hard to tell. The crowd went ballistic and several parents were ejected. Quite a circus actually. Overall, decent game to watch. Two pretty good teams that are coached well.
It was a close play at the plate for sure. I don't think the runner's hand ever touched the plate. After the play the unpire never wiped off the plate and it was still clean. If the runner would have swiped his hand across there would have been some dirt across the plate and it was clean as a whistle.

The DPats 18's head off to Phoenix, AZ with a 15-1 mark on the young summer season...good luck boys, punch your ticket to Farmington!
That runner most definately touched the plate and better yet was well past the plate before being tagged, It was a great slide because the catcher was blocking the plate without the ball. If the runner trucks the catcher he would of been out but instead made an athletic move and was totally safe. The question was if he was tagged at all. Besides the umpire was totally out of position and admitted dust was in his eye and really couldn't see, stated after the game when he had to answer to the men in charge. Funny how the truth comes out after the fact! Congrats to both teams for a great tournament.
