Just back from watching our son play baseball at a level no DI coach ever projected or anticipated he would achieve. Heck, nearly every DI who watched him seemed to give reasons he couldn't play in their program.
For those of you who hoped that phone would ring...and it didn't, it doesn't make a difference. The important things are finding a coach who believes passionately in your son, a great academic and social fit, and a program which recognizes that college baseball is all about the players, providing them a college baseball experience they will never forget, and which gets them ready for life after baseball. While July 1 calls are great, most players don't get them. I would encourage you not to be anxious reading about those who did, be happy for every single player who did. Don't think your son is being left out. You actually have a lot more time and schools to explore and, perhaps, less pressure to make decisions. And through it all, try and remember this is a marathon, not a sprint...for most of us. Also remember, coaches don't always make correct judgements about your son. All you need is one coach who runs a great program, and it may not be DI.

'You don't have to be a great player to play in the major leagues, you've got to be a good one every day.'
