I am new to the baseball recruiting world. I have a 2014 grad who wants to play college baseball. I am looking for help on when and how to contact the coach of the few schools he is interested in. Some are D1 D2 and D3. Are there different rules for each division. If anybody can help out much appreciated....

Welcome Billy! It is great to have another person from CT on the boards.

If you go to the main page of the website (not just the forums) and look on the upper right hand corner, you will see a recruiting timeline. There's all sorts of good information there and elsewhere. There's a great "Find" function on the forums and you can discover many answers just by wandering around there.
If your son is a 2014, it's not too early for him to be contacting coaches, provided he has figured out what schools are the right ones to contact. Otherwise you're just shooting in the dark.

It's also not too late, so if he needs time to research colleges to determine which have what he's looking for (academics, finances, baseball, environment, etc.), you have time.

The above applies to when it's time for your son to make contact.

The time for you, as a parent, to make contact is NEVER.
There are different rules in each division, but they only cover a coach reaching out and contacting your son directly. There is no rule against a player initiating contact with a coach and them responding. For example if you had your son email a few coaches at schools he is interested in, there would be no rule blocking them from responding to that email. Being a sophomore now would be the perfect time to begin the process of contacting coaches.
