Not to take any of the thunder away from Mr. Italiano's accomplishments, but being on the 40 man and making it to the "Bigs" are two different things.

There are high draft picks that are guaranteed a spot on the 40 man roster that play at various minor league levels.

Again, making a 40 man roster is a huge accomplishment. Hell, getting a professional contract by an MLB team at any level is a huge accomplishment.
KG is correct. The 40 man is far from the Bigs but its still pretty **** good. If you are a 2 year 40 man guy you can finally start making a living playing the game. 2 Year guys can make 40K-50K a year in AAA. I have a kid that has been on the 40 man 6 times with 3 different clubs and has never had a call up. But he is making about 60K a year for 6 months of work.
