My kid will be a junior in HS next school year. He played full time in RF on varsity this past season. He got off to a slow start and ended up with a .255 ba and around .450 ob. He played good defensively. He got the academic poty award for baseball. (3.9+ gpa) He's playing jr. legion this summer and has showed a marked increase in power with 2 hr's so far. He's a great kid, very coachable and a good attitude. It is his goal to move up to another level after HS. He has not played in any showcase events and is not on anyone's radar screen right now. He does not have any overwhelming skills that would show up in a pro style workout but the kid can hit and I think he's got some good potential to hit for power and average. He has the intangibles like heart, desire, work ethic ect. I know from info on this website that he needs to prepare to send out intro letters soon. Is it too early to send them out now ? I see the timeline says september of jr. year. Any and all advice is greatly appreciated. Please respond.

Grades are very important, looks like he's got that covered, SAT preperation is in order now.

Impact baseball seems to be the place for NC players. Lots of good colleges in your backyard.

Speed ? work in the off season on speed, get tips from the track coach at his HS.

Where does he want to go ?? Take a few choices and get him to the summer camps to be seen face to face with the coach.

Write letters and make phone calls to show an interest in his favorite schools.

Arm strength - Long toss, Run, long toss, run some more.
