I'm from Minnesota as my screen name suggests, and my son has played against Crown College. He was a 2004 HS grad so this was a while ago, but at that time Crown was at the bottom of the UMAC conference. I just checked the last few years of UMAC standings and Crown has remained at the bottom of the conference from 2006 thru 2012... last place 6 of those 7 years:

(My son played for the #2 team in the conference, BLC. The #1 team in the conference, St. Scholastica is usually ranked nationally.)
It sounds like Crown might have a new coach who is working to recruit better talent. It might be a great opportunity to be part of moving the team up to a more competitive standing in the conference, but just wanted to point you to the recent history of the team.
Way back when my son played them, they seemed like a team of nice young men with a strong team spirit. The college is in a smaller town/city, so even when they're not practicing or playing games I'd guess the team hangs out together.
