8th inning is going on and the cleaning crew is out cleaning up the place....

Question: Why did Pagan run? He's in scoring position anyway.

Why not "question" Hill getting thrown out at 3rd base for the 3rd out?

Lou...You are playing into the rest of the organizations hands: NO CLASS.

Watch the play and see that Pagan had 0 secondary lead and went from a stand still when he saw the ball get away. Where is the secondary lead? Where is the reading of the ball in the dirt?
You could tell Lou was going to blow the way he ran out there! He might be going down for about 10-15 games. I think he shoved Freming twice which is a big no no.
The trash on the field shows how little class people who go to Cub games have. Not to mention, HE WAS OUT!

Glad thing are going so well on the Southside.

But that's the difference and apparently always will be. Sox fans will "ease their pain" because the Cubs are lousy, but Cub fans generally could care less about the Sox. Very interesting dynamic. Wonder why that is? FBD, maybe you could help me out on that one.

I'll never understand how another team's loss makes one feel better about their own team's shortcomings. Am I supposed to feel better because the Sox blew a game today? Who cares? I'm just disgusted with how MY team is playing and how bad they look doing it!
Beenthere, what a funny guy.

If Cub Fans are Bush because they threw their cups onto the field, what does that make sox fans who run out onto the field and mug the ump and spew profanity in the presence of young kids to describe the Cubs, even as the Cubs may be 1500 miles away? For someone with such a sense of baseball history, you have a very short memory when it is convenient.

Rosy, I don't get it either. Maybe I missed something in Sociology, Pyschology or Philosphy that could help me understand the dynamic you describe. It's going to be a long year for both teams, and sox fans who had unrealistic expectations are just getting frustrated like Ozzie and just have to blame it on someone....I guess it's the Cub Fans' fault.

I've stayed quiet on Cubs/Sox banter since I'm an Astros fan (born in Houston). But I'll throw in my opinion here as an unbiased observer of these discussions.

First of all, it is true that Sox fans generally seem to be more concerned about what the Cubs are doing than even how the Sox are doing. I don't really understand why so many Sox fans have that mentality, but Cubs fans are not nearly as concerned about how the Sox do. For example, when the Cubs made a run in 2003, this town was all about the Cubs. When the Sox made their run in 2005, Sox fans seemed more concerned about rubbing it in to Cubs fans than celebrating their own victory.

As a baseball fan, I enjoy watching both teams since I can't always turn on the tube and watch the Astros get swept by whoever they're playing. However, living here and dealing with both sides it is painfully obvious that Cubs fans concern themselves with how the Cubs are doing, but Sox fans might care even more. If the Sox are playing horrible but the Cubs are too, Sox fans are happy. I would say to both sides to just concern yourself with how YOUR team is doing.
Bags was done four seasons ago, as much as everyone in Houston wanted him to wake up one morning and "go back to work like nothing ever happened" it just wasn't so. The fans knew it, the Astros knew it, and most importantly Bags knew it. He could have gone to the AL and DH'd for a few seasons to get to 500 HRs, but he would have only been 1/2 the Bags that he once was, even though 1/2 the Bags is still better that 3/4 of the league.

Yes it did seem like a mess at the time, but John, nobody is perfect, you of all people should know that. Wink

rosy, to be honest with you, right now I don't think he could throw a tantrum.

I have to agree with Ktown. Not being from Chicago myself (lived here for over 25 years though), I have no "dog in this fight" (no offense to Michael Vick). However, I have never understood why both sides of town even care about the other...why not just root for your team. And, while I am sure Cub fans could never be Sox fans, and vice versa, at some point (i.e. post-season), shouldn't each side just be "Chicago" fans? It's just odd to me.

Also, one side calling the other bush leaguers is a bit curious. While I agree that many who go to Wrigley field (not all, maybe not even most...but a good number) really don't care about the game itself. They are strictly going to be entertained. So, this past weekend, I finally got it. Those so-called Cub fans (again, not all) got what they wanted, an intra-team brawl, a manager ejection and they got to litter the field, along with most-likely being overserved before, during and after the game. That's entertainment.

Not to be outdone, some of those who go to the Cell (again, not real fans, but some in attendance) like to assault coaches, among some of the entertaining extra-curricular activities.

My point is, neither side of town really has a clean slate and both should consider this when casting stones at the other. Like Ktown says "can't we all just get along?"
beenthere is always the first guy to post something when the cubs make idiots of themselves. Which happens quite frequently I know. If you try and deny it you're crazy!!!!!

I think the Houstonian has hit the nail on the head, Sox fans care more about the Cubs than vice versa.

If we wait long enough the other sox fan on this board (the guy whose kid goes to FSU) will chime in also. However, I think he's a little busy wondering what happened this weekend.

let's face it.....both teams suck this year!
Or is that "sox fans end up in the cell?"

I talked to my daughter today who knows the Art Director at a big Advertising Firm. She gave me an inside scoop on the story behind one of the biggest and well-know ads going on TV right now.

It seems that when Gieco wanted to start its' ads that feature "Gieco.com....so easy a Caveman can do it" there was another choice that they had to pass on because of legal ramifications with Major League baseball. The orginal ads were: "Geico.com....so easy a sox fan can do it." and it featured The Ligue's in the commercial.

It's all the same to me.

OK, I'm sorry for enjoying the circus that has been the start of the 07' season.

People who go to games and throw things on the field are "bush".
I thought that people who threw things on the field were immediately ejected? I know they have tons of cameras up there now, what gives? I heard NASCAR was doing this.
