curious about home run numbers around the state

I would guess that 7-11 would be a lot of homers in a typical 32-35 game schedule.

Out of curiosity: Do public league teams play mostly in Park District parks without fences?

I would have guessed the same - home run leaders around our area seem to be in that range...

I would tend to agree. We have a couple of players in our area that have 11-13 but those are rare indeed. I had 2-3 kids with 4 and a couple w/3.

The 21 home runs in 37 games 3 years ago by Will Gaff still seems like an unreal year.

Seems to me he went the JC Route.

The most amazing thing about that season when he hit 21 HR's is that they would pitch to him. That's about one HR every 5 or 6 AB's, which is crazy. Gotta wonder about the rest of the lineup.

I've seen a few kids who never saw a fastball after they hit 6 or 7 dingers.

He is going to Illinois in the fall after playing at Parkland last year where he led the team in Home Runs and was second in doubles and RBI's while batting 385. He did not see many pitches the last 3 weeks of the season in high school and got hit by pitches more than his fair share his senior year. They even intentionally walked him one game with the bases loaded.

One advantage he had was the 2 kids hitting behind him in high school were batting around 400 with some power also so they had to pick their poison.
