via Loudoun Viva:
(April 26, 2012) - The high school baseball regular season is entering its (seventh inning) stretch drive and Potomac Falls (Dulles District), Patriot (Cedar Run District) and Stone Bridge (Liberty District) are the teams in position to capture regular-season titles and/or top seeds heading into postseason.
Dulles District
The Leader: Potomac Falls (10-1 in district)
The Contenders: Woodgrove (9-2), Loudoun Valley (8-2)
Still Alive: Heritage (7-4)
Key Match-ups: Loudoun Valley vs. Woodgrove (April 27); Potomac Falls vs. Loudoun Valley (May 1); Heritage vs. Woodgrove (May 1); Potomac Falls vs. Heritage (May 4); Loudoun Valley vs. Heritage (May 8).
At Stake: Regular season title, top seed in Dulles District tournament, automatic bid and better seeding in Region II tournament as Dulles top team. 4 teams will advance to regionals.
The Skinny: Potomac Falls took sole possession of first place with its win Tuesday at Woodgrove. The Panthers bats have been hot but the winner of Friday's Woodgrove vs. Loudoun Valley games Friday will be just one game back of Potomac Falls. A Loudoun Valley win Friday would set up a battle for first place on May 1 when the Vikes play the Panthers.
At the bottom, Park View (1-8) and Dominion (1-10) are fighting for the Dulles tournament's final playoff spot. Heritage is close to wrapping up a home date in district tournament quarterfinals.
