It would be wonderful to get rid of the reserve claus in the minors as well.

Curt Flood and Marvin Miller might be the most important two men in baseball going back to Jackie Robinson.
Players should not be tied to the original team for more than 3 or possibly 4 years. That's pleanty of time for a team to determine if they are in the teams future.
