I'm sorry... smack me for that one. I must tell you that my son is on a D2 team in Tennessee so I guess I can get away with the wise cracks!

In the 2005 draft, players were were selected from the following 4-year colleges:
D1 -- 175 schools
D2 -- 44 schools
D3 -- 19 schools
NAIA -- 24 schools
plus one draftee from a college that apparantly doesn't have a baseball team (football player) and one from a college in Canada; I don't know the affiliation.
Of course, this is just drafted, not "going to the bigs".

Anecdotaly,(is that actually a word?) Moc1's brother played D2 and MLB long enough to get a WS ring.

AL alone drafted 308 total 4 year college players in 2005 (don't have breakdown in divisions,etc.) 249 HS and 134 JUCO.

Doc- You are correct. My numbers show the quantity of colleges, not the number of players. Just wanted to indicate how many different schools have draftees.
