A player becomes academically ineligible after fall. After scrambling , player gets grades back in order (online classes etc) and its now mid season. Is he immediately able to rejoin the team or how does he get reinstated? or is next fall the soonest. Does player lose this year of eligibility.

I can't directly answer your question, but there are NCAA rules and there are Team Rules. The Team Rules may be a little stricter then the NCAA rules. The athlete in question should check with their athletic-academic advisor.
Without knowing for sure, I would guess it would be next fall. although they may be doing well in spring classes, their GPA is still the same until end of spring when final grades for those classes are in. Just my guess.
In looking at the NCAA publications, says there is a reinstatement process, but doesn't clearly say when its possible. Interested in NCAA rules if anyone knows.
The compliance officials in the athletic department at the school are most likely to have access to all the relevant information.
It likely depends on how hard he throws.....95+ immediately, 85 next season.
When you say "mid-season", I assume that you're referring to the middle of the semester, after the baseball season has already started. In that case, it would be highly unlikely for an athlete to gain eligibility in the middle of an academic term. In the vast majority of situations, the earliest opportunity to regain eligibility will be the next semester or quarter.
Thanks for jumping in Rick. I was thinking through online classes or other compressed classes (during break) etc, might be possible to get grades back to where they need to be, but trying to determine if NCAA allows a reinstatement immediately upon having grades in order.
That would be possible, especially if he could get a "winter session" or online course and complete it before the spring term begins, but it's much more difficult if the athlete can't correct the situation before the start of the semester.
Assuming he doesn't make it back until next fall, does he use up this year of eligibility?

I don't know for sure - but I believe so. That opinion is based on watching athletes in other sports and may not be correct?
That would depend upon whether the athlete has already used their redshirt season, and if they played in any games or scrimmages this past Fall against outside competition. You're welcome to contact me directly if you want to discuss specific details.
