On that same web page if you click on the drop down box, you can look at Collegiate Baseball and NCBWA rankings. The Collegiate Baseball rankings were updated later so that take the DII World Series into account. Catawba was listed at 5 in the Southeast region on May 9th. After making a deep run at the World Series they ended up ranked number 4 by Collegiate Baseball.

It is crazy that Georgia College, ranked 6th in that poll, does not have any coaches. I have mentioned this here previously. It definitely has been a weird COVID year in Milledgeville, GA and with that baseball program. Since school started in August, any kind of baseball workouts have been greatly limited and player led. The team remains very talented and seemingly given the circumstances, well focused. It will be a tremendous story if there is a spring season 2021 and that team competes well.

For softball, there is a national ranking at the D-II level and so, I would think it is the same for all sports.  I know that ranking changes a lot due to various things like record, strength of schedule, ...  For softball, there is a tournament, usually held in Arizona where the top teams from the country show up and get after it.  My daughter and her team played in that two different years.  Her senior year they didn't lose a game and she was 1st Team All Tournament.
