Well, he's a freshman at a D3, so he hasn't received any athletic aid.  If he also wasn't recruited to the D3, then 14.5.5.2.10.2 would allow him to play without sitting out, assuming he met all the other requirements for the one time transfer exception.

 

A player who wan't recruited to a D3, and skips a year of playing baseball, but who will make the 35 man roster at a D1 the following year?  Seems like a rare individual to me.

Thanks 3FG I always appreciate your input. I have a question for the OP and 3FG. and would this change the scenario. This just happened at my sons school.

 

Did the player play, and practice with the team, in the Fall and then decide not to play the spring season? If so, even if he was not recruited by the D3, would playing and practicing in the fall count as a season and would he have to then sit out?
