I don't know how many readers saw the report on David in the Virginia Pilot local Report. Impressive numbers playing for Class A Beloit (Wis) Snappers. 294 BA, (165 hits in 562 plate appearances), 31 doubles, 5 triples, 16 dingers, and 101 rbi's and 80 runs scored in 135 games. David (6-3 225) was named to the Mid-west all-star team and ranked as the 14th best prospect in the league by Baseball America. Not to shabby for a very young 20 yr old 3rd baseman who just 2 yr's ago was playing for Norbie at First Colonial HS.

The one thing these stats don't indicate is the character of this young man....I had the pleasure of coaching him during his Sr HS fall season and he always addressed me in a yes sir and no sir manner even thou it wasn't required and I'll guarantee you he is still shows that character today. This young man is another example of what Towny has done for youth baseball in our area the past 10 yr's or so.

Cangrats to David and the Winfree family.

Gosh it will be neat to see, BJ & Juston Upton, Josh Rupe, Zimmerman and Winfree on the Monday night tube....and don't forget former FC/UVA Mark Reynolds...he put up some good numbers this past yr playing in the Arizona farm system.
