Some folks may dispute this from other parts of the country. But in Virginia, legion ball is not much considered a 'recruiting event." One of the biggest reasons is many teams are already composed of college age kids (19 years old) and Legion has "sadly" at least been long considered only a choice for those kids not playing competitive summer ball.

I'm not saying there aren't some darn good players in these events that are 2006 or younger. I'm saying the college guys don't think there is -- I've had a few tell me as much.

Doesn't surprise me that VMI was there. That staff works darn hard since Coach Ikenberry came to their program, the hardest of any I've seen in Va. If I had a team and I was looking for a tireless worker I'd go hire him. He leaves no stone unturned and I've formed this opinion based purely on observation from recruiting visibility at different camps and showcases talking to different dads etc.

I agree wholeheartly about Coach Ikenberry, VMI is everywhere in the showcase circuit.

I have seen them all over the place this summer. They were even at the District 10 Legion Tourney. Guess if you shake enough trees some players will fall out
