It got by me before, but just discovered that Deck McGuire got his first MLB action (with the Reds) over the course of the last month of the season, including a very nice start on the final day of regular season.

Those who've been around for a while will remember Deck as a dominating player (not just on the mound) for Deep Run.  He graduated there in 2007, had 3 highly successful years at Ga. Tech (including a successful summer at the Cape), and was the # 11 overall pick in the 2010 draft (Blue Jays).  It took 8 summers in the minors, but have to say, his stat line for his call-up is pretty strong!

It'll be interesting to see what opportunities crop up for him in 2018.  He signed a free agency deal with the Reds last winter, and in his situation at that time, that was probably a one-year deal.  I'm sure he made the MLB minimum for his time up in September (not to shabby!), and will probably not have enough leverage do do more than that in 2018.  But he may be free to negotiate with all 30 teams, and if that's the case, maybe he can leverage his performance to land where he has the best shot to stick on the 25-man roster.

Though that may actually still be with the Reds.
