Declining a "Junior Day" Invite?

One thing for sure, the player should handle the communications. It's OK for you to discuss with your son in advance exactly how he will handle it, as many teens need help understanding what adult authority figures will be scrutinizing them for. But whenever he calls or e-mails, it should come from him and him alone.

As for declining, the best approach would be to express interest, then express regret that the timing is unfortunately in conflict with prior commitments. Ask if there might not be later events he could attend instead. (There typically will be.)

The general message there is, don't write me off, I still want to come and hope we can work something out for a different date.

I figured as much...he has already spoken with the coach months ago, about another camp he did go to, so he needs to start getting used to calling and it will build his confidence and rapor with college coaches. Time to man up and make the call. LOL..
