In the sabermetrics post it was noted that high school baseball provides limited sample sizes. That may affect our having the ability to play the percentages against certain batters, but what about the shift against a left handed pull stick? Say you have a soft thrower on the mound and you have enough of a sample size of info. to know a player seems to be almost dead pull. Would you think about applying the shift and leaving one glove (3B) to play the left side? I have never attempted that in a game and may never, but I have been thinking outside of the box more recently.
I have a love and passion for this game, and I want to be a great coach!!!

He'd have to be a dead pull hitter AND a very slow runner. The problem with one IF on the left side with a soft thrower is that it should be fairly easy to bunt for a hit against that alignment, assuming your 3b is shifted over and back toward the 5-6 hole. I definitely back 'em up on the right side and knock it down, though- alert P to get involved even if it's routine at 1b or 2b.

Also, I think the trend for coaching hitting has continued to shift to "let it travel/ use the whole field/ stay inside/ hit behind the runner/ go the other way/ go with the pitch". The result is far fewer pure pull hitters. That's what I'm seeing anyway.
