Deferred at Early Decision

Well right about now is the time that all the Early Decisions start filling mailboxes. Not all the players are always accepted into the high academic schools (Williams, Amherst, Ivys, Wash U, Grinell, WLU, Emory, Swarthmore, Etc.) due to the already extraodinary pool of students they're compared against. My question is if a player is deferred in early decision even with the coach's "help", what are the chances they will be admitted second time into a prestigious university such as the ones listed above?

As I understand it - pretty low. Coach help has the most value in ED. AD's and Ad-coms make their "deals" during the ED period. Some deferred students still get in but the odds change considerably.
