DeMarini bat

Is the bat composite? If it is, it will not have the ding sound like an alloy.

"The IHSA has adopted the NFHS rules and will not be allowing the use of composite bats for the 2011 school year."

Illinois has just outlawed them for 2011.

Even the older F2 youth is a double wall aluminum and doesn't have the same ping sound as a regular aluminum.


If he swings it well and hits well with it,I wouldn't be too concerned.

The one piece composite bats are banned in 2011, correct. So, a two piece (composite handle, aluminum barrel) are o.k., right?

In my experience Demarini aluminum bats typically have a "deeper" sound than other brands. Whether this is more like a "wood" sound could be debated but as long as the performance is acceptable then I wouldn't be worried. We've had good luck with Demarini but that being said my son has worn out a Voodoo to the point that even I was convinced it was dead. It did take about a season and a half of pretty constant use though.
