My son wants a Demarini CF3 -3--would like opinion of anyone out there that has one. To me it cost to much but his aunt wants to pitch in 1/2 so we probably will buy it as a reward for his high honors grades. Just looking for input from people who have the bat and if they like it. THANKS!

Two words- Totally awesome!

I don't know about the pitch black one but my son had the red cf3 last year and the bat is by far the best bat I have ever seen! The pop is absolutely outstanding and great also for cold weather as opposed to some other composite bats. We bought the catalyst composite at the same time as the cf3 and the demarini is hands down the better of the two bats.

The sound is most realistic of a wooden "crack" also if that puts icing on your cake.

It is a great investment. By far the greatest composite bat on the market today. The feel of it is also very realistic to that of wood where the actual weight feels end loaded.

Now, if I can just keep everyone on the team from using it in batting practice.......
The CF-3 is a great bat but has some issues. It does have "pop" and has a nice woody "crack" sound to it, as opposed to the "plink" sound of an aluminum barreled bat. My biggest hesitation recommending the F3 is that they seem to have lifecycle where they are cold (0-500 hits) then hot (couple thousand hits) then fail (varies but seems to happen right when you need it). We have been through about 6 F3's (my kid is 14) and they always seem to fatigue and become dead or break right about when you need it at the end of the season. We've gone back to a metal bat like the DeMarini Voodoo since it has decent performance but costs less and will not fail as easily. If the bat was more durable or cheaper it would be a no-brainer.

Performance = 9
Value = 3
Quick update--my son is not power hitter--singles--doubles (but grew alot over 6' about 155 as freshmen so that may change). Got promoted to sophomore team last friday several of his teamates used his Demarini CF-3 30-33, they hit 5 home runs in 2 games--they are very happy my son was moved up!! They really are a great group according to my son, and welcomed him with open arms even before the homeruns. When he comes up to bat or is pitching they say his name and encourage him--which is nice because he is shy, having "the home run bat" doesn't hurt either.
