Tiger,
Not being critical Kid, I just tend to take things literally until someone straightens me out! I'm glad you take part in the Message Boards, you'll learn plenty. I've heard lots of younger players talk about a "full ride" in NCAA baseball as something easily attainable. When I try to convey the facts as I know them, they think I don't know what I'm talking about.......or they think I'm just plain MEAN! Roll Eyes
Just to add on to a dead post... Derek got a full scholarship to Goergetown, but part of it was academic. He holds a 3.7 GPA @ Dobbs Ferry and is president of the Italian Club or something. A friend of mine dated him a few months ago and when we scrimmaged them she came to the game and was telling me about him. He didn't do anything special in the scrimmage, but looking at his stats from this year and his junior year, I can't really say anything bad about the guy.

It is my understanding, told to me directly by a DI coach who was recruiting my son, that academics monies are added to athletic and the total is counted against the athletic allowance. Therefore, the player should take the higher of the academic or athletic offers; the coach would not encourage "blending". It surprised me, as it likely would most people.

i think the coaches would rather you take acedemic money vs athletic money as it doesn't come out of their budget.11.7 scholys at a fully funded school.not many schools are fully funded.and lets face it not many schools make money with baseball.
no matter how he got his money baseball or acedemics ,he is paying less for school with a chance to play.congrats and good luck to him.
