I understand 8-3-3 and the awards BUT they do not talk about a ball in foul ground. Example: The catcher takes off his mask on a ball that gets by to his side, in foul ground, and scoops the ball up with his mask. Whats the NFHS call and award? and where do I look up the rule.
I seem to remember the Pirate manager (Danny Mertaugh, I believe) getting a call on this play.

8-3-3c1 It's two bases on a thrown ball including a pitch. Also it will tell you on the dead ball chart the next page over.
