Cole is hurt, Cameron is an infielder, not a pitcher and our team is just too young in key positions. That's just my honest assessment. Been a good year otherwise. Smile

Your Don Nelson impersonation?
Meatsdad -- I'm not saying I disagree with you, but why do you think Coppell has more pitching? Have you seen Cunningham pitch? He is a perfect #3 or #3.5 during this time of the year. His numbers aren't that revealing because he was just recently cleared to play after surgery for a football injury. If Cole is the Cowboys #3 for this series, then who will pitch game 2 against Braddock?

Coppell's pitching is deep, yes.....but I'm not sure why they should be considered better than the Dragons' arms.

Both offenses are very tough.

It might just come down to defense and coaching. Wink

Oh -- and tcwatt -- your sarcasm card has not yet been delivered -- the app is still under consideration in Minnesota. Be careful in overusing the temporary card. Smile

Sorry-just kidding. I hope it is a good series. We have somewhat of a rivalry here. I am serious, though, when I say,if we can beat Keller, we can beat anyone. If SLC is strong 1-9, then been there done that with Keller,---and FM, FMMCS, LHS, HHS, CHS, NHS, etc..I apologize if I said, or implied, anything that is inappropriate.

It's not the South to worry about. Good teams, but it's the West that DFW must challenge. Coach Oliver out at Monterey will have something special for the FMHS/Martin winner. If you can win the Region, anybody can win at Austin. All bets are off.

Beenthere has a good point. I think west texas as well as deep east texas doesn't get enough coverage so no one really knows what these teams have. They might be hiding in the weeds ready to pounce on the teams in North and South Texas.
PD - wasn't aware Cunningham had been hurt. That explains limited innings that I saw. But is his arm up to 5 + innings? If Cole starts like we all hope he will in game two or when ever Braddock starts, then I would give Coppell the edge. Kegley seems to be average but that might have been what people would have said of De La before the playoffs, right now De La is a lights out closer.

Watten looked really good at Cedar Hill and would have gone deeper if not for a miss played ball in the infield early in the game. It cost him a couple of runs that really shouldn't have been earned runs. That then cost him 10 extra pitches in an inning.

Meat never got comfortable against Ceder Hill in game two and Kettler came in with 2 on and 2 out in the 2nd to shut them down ( Coppell was up 2 to 1) with De La coming into close in the sixth

Coppell's pitching goes 6 deep, Watten, De La Chappelle, Kettler, Malone, Nieder and oh yea a guy named Green.

But KD has watched both teams several times so he might have a little better understanding of the match-up. To Coppell's defense, Coppell beat Keller without it's bats working well at all. The problem seems to have fixed itself against Cedar Hill.

As for coaching, Watten keeps telling me the Coach English has plan and whatever it is it seems to be working. Maybe this is his year.

Defense, well I think our guys are just now playing the best they have been all year, so that should help.

This should be a good series for sure.
Know Chase very well. Played on Trey's 10 Tiger team. If you think he is a good pitcher, you should see his academics(he is also a quality young man!!). He clearly takes after his mom-Debbie (sorry Ray). He may have signed with Vandy but, like Kaskow (Stanford), you have to get in first. Kudos to Ray and Debbie, good friends and quality people. Game on-good luck!!(Hey, spot us some runs!)

I would not write off the El Paso - Socorro team just yet!!!

Agreed. Absolutely not. I include El Paso in the West, but maybe should consider it the West Coast. They'll be very good, but don't think they can be Region champions though.

I think Coppell has more pitching than that. Like I said, it should be a good series and I am looking forward to it.

I watched both teams play this year. Coppell likely has an edge in overall number of arms. I would say SLC has some pitching too but both teams have a rapid decline in pitching effectiveness after their no. 1's and 2's. So the bats will loom large in game three if it gets to a game three. I give the edge to CHS.

And I thought I didn't like "En Fuego" but I guess a little fire is always good to warm things up.

Should be a great series with lots of fanfare. Some big match-ups of pitchers and hitters --- and coaches.

Congratulations 11s, it appears your team found just enough pitching. Good Luck out west maybe we will pass you on the road and meet you back here for a rematch. Do North Texas Proud!!

Condolences to our Jaguar finds. We had hoped to meet you again this year in a 3 games series. Congratulations on an outstanding season.
