Did You Receive Baseball Gifts Today?

After son entered college we didn't feel the need to spend $$$ on baseball equipment or anything baseball. My son has a habit of buying baseball hats (he seldom wears his team hat off the field since he spends so much time in it, and needs the change of "color"). So he treated himself to a variety of different teams. They need to be color coordintated with his various outfits.

However, son got a really neat gift. A tie with all the different grips for pitchers.

This was sent to him from his summer baseball family.

I told him the greatest gift from them was a great summer and a friendship that will last for years to come. And great memories!

Sometimes it is not the material things in baseball that make great presents!

I got a very nice SIRIUS satellite radio package from BrideofJT...
...imagine the look on her face when she said "now you can listen to baseball" and I told her MLB was only available on XM (we make the exchange tomorrow).

BrideofJT got a nice pair of warm RED boots from Lands End to wear on those Feb/Mar cold weather games.

Son gets the honor, privilage, and pleasure of living, attending school, and playing ball in one of the most beautiful places on the planet, Honolulu, HI. All I got was this lousy t-shirt!
HA HA I'm kidding of course. I will wear the shirt everywhere I go with great pride. The best gift was getting my son home for Christmas. Mahalo.

IN....The boys home, "Having a Catch!" (over and over and over...!), Some great baseball conversations we can't have over the phone, watching them eat up a storm, and Collegiate logo gear!...

I got out of a speeding ticket picking oldest up at the airport last night and got to spend the whole day with the family!!!

Pretty cool.

The baseball gift I received is from all the baseball friends who have been in touch since my Mom passed this past Wednesday

Baseball People are the best !!!!!

No baseball gift.....better than that. I spent today with all four of my kids, and one grandchild. It gets no better than this.

My kids got me a very heavy throw/blanket from son's school. It's beautiful and will certainly help keep me warm in the stands this spring!!! It was a complete surprise too... always makes a gift more fun to receive!

JT - That's funny about the sirius! My brother told me the other day that there are rumors they are going to merge (XM and sirius).

Got to play catch with my son for the first time in 6 weeks. It'll be a couple more weeks before we get to a distance that will let us know if his arm is going to be OK without surgery but today went well at least.

I'm not too tough to shop for as I tell my guys all I want is hugs...and good grades. They got the grades, but I got:

(1) Hokie coffee cup
(2) Hokie Bird (for the desk)
(3) Hokie Stadium replica

Until they shut down the Baseball Express t shirt section, or close out the gazillion places selling "Hokie" merchandise, I'm easy.

Sons got a day at the UGA Hitting Camp, which was really excellent. BUT the real gift was to hubby who got to go spend the day watching and listening and having the time of his life!

Other than some new equipment, each son received something hubby has had for years and we've held onto waiting until the boys were maybe old enough to appreciate:

Older son got the signature of Stan "The Man" Musial and younger got Hank Greenberg, and hubby got to tell them all about these great players.

I got the SI Baseball Book. It has some amazing pictures.

I got a Mars Hill College BASEBALL blanket from my son, it is not that heavy, but may attach a down throw to it. Gets cold in these wonderful mountains.

I got a a 60 ft batting cage installed in my back yard!!! Also got light throwing jacket for night games and the winter season.

My son got the set of DVD's of the World Series games, including Game 7 of the NLCS. Amazing how exciting they can still be even when you know what's going to happen! And the Greatest Games Played At Busch set. Cardinals marathon going on in Orlando!

It is odd not to be giving him new equipment any more (though his Aunt did send him batting gloves, oddly enough). We catcher's parents are particularly grateful for those sponsorships!
