During the fall and winter the past two years, we have discussed recruiting, what a player might want to look for in a school, and "fit." I have known several athletes (in other sports) that thought they had found "the perfect fit," only to find they hadn't. These players all moved on to other schools or endeavors within a year.

This started me wondering, "How many of the baseball playing '03's & '04's signed to go to go to "School A," found it wasn't a fit for them, and are now looking for "School B?"

If you have changed or are seeking a change of schools, what was the reason for seeking change after the fall (distance from home, injury, scholastics, "not as much fun as I thought," etc.). I have seen the statistics on how many HS players get to advance to college ball, but I haven't seen any statistics on how many move players change schools (other than JUCO's) their first couple of years.

In response, be as generic as you need to be so that you don't burn any bridges.

My son switched after his first year.

He went to the school because he really liked the Baseball coach, and still does. However he fell in love and his girlfriend stayed home.

He simply couldn't handle being away from her. He is now attending a local JUCO, living at home and is doing much better. When I asked my son before he left, he said being 2 hours away would not be a problem.......Wrong!

Parents do not under estimate he effect a girl friend can have on your son!!!
