Does anyone know if there are opening ceremonies for the DII World Series and when they would occur in relation to the opening games. The first games are Saturday, May 26th. The NCAA site does not state when they are as far as I can see. Just trying to arraign a flight for my wife. My son and I are driving up .

Three Bagger: I know one of the NCAA reps for the CWS and he told me there was no official opening ceremony. All players and teams will be introduced before the start of their opening games, however. I also heard all the teams will be going to a Durham Bulls game, and they'll also participate in a community outreach event. It should be a great time for the kids.
Woody,

I think I'll pass on the dog if that's the kind they serve at the ballyards in Chicago! Big Grin Of course I've eaten tacos down here in South Texas that had some meat I wasn't sure about. Probably was something normal, though like hog head, armadillo, possum, or my personal favorite, rattlesnake!

floridafan,

Thanks so much! Keep me posted on Eric and I hope he gets some good news in a short while. He was phenominal in Tampa's games.
Glad to report that I met Three Bagger and his son today at the D2 CWS in Cary. Both of our sons' teams were taking off-day BP at the complex. We had a really nice conversation about all things baseball and what a great experience everyone is having at this terrific tournament. Our sons' teams, Catawba and Delta State, will play each other Tuesday afternoon in a second-round winners' bracket game so we both wished each other good luck -- just not too much -- with a smile. Just another thing that makes this site special when a couple of diehard baseball dads from different parts of the country get a chance to meet.
After tremendous battles with number one ranked St. Mary's and Catawba University, yesterday found my son's team Delta State on the losing end of a 1-0
shutout to the University of Minnesota-Mankto. A rematch to see who would survive to meet West Chester for the National Championship Saturday night was played today. Delta Statepulled off one more miracle comeback after trailing 5-0
and having managed only two hits through seven and a third innings, Delta rallied for five runs in the eighth and won the game 6-5 in the bottom of the ninth on a walkoff hit. Our 64th and last game will decide our fate and I believe the game will be carried on one of the ESPN's at 7est/6cst. What a ride it has been against some great teams.
Congratulations to West Chester University on a great win and a well played game. Delta State just never got things going and so ended a great run by my son's team. Jordan made the all tournament team but he would of course traded that for that one more victory. West Chester deserved their win though and are a great DII National Champion.
