My son has been to a couple of their showcases and they are well run in my opinion. Can't compare them to others, because we have only been to one more. Everyone has equal opportunity to showcase their ability. Not inexpensive, but always scouts/coaches there. At this point, my son is supposed to play with them this summer and after he spoke with them, I felt it was a great opportunity for him and he was too excited to let me say no anyway.
Wow!

I guess we will hear in bits and pieces. Impact has really made an impact in NC. The addition of Coach Alexander, who I think is outstanding, could have only made the organization better (one would think).

"Austin Alexander who spent 5 months working with Impact Baseball, Inc. has been permanently dismissed from the company as of Tuesday, January 3, 2006 announced Impact Baseball President Andy Partin."
The loss of Austin Alexander is a blow to the organization. He brought knowledge, enthusiasm, and credibility to the Dirtbags. Seems very odd that parents were apparently not notified about this. They found about it either by reading the website or getting a call from someone who read about it. He will be sorely missed. Best of luck to AA.
Agreed. This is a bush league comment by Impact.

When I first see something like that it makes me think it was something personal. To say "permanently dismissed" makes it sound vindictive (just my opinion). I hope for all concern it works out
MTH, your being kind of harsh, don't you think? Andy Partin is first class and for him to make a comment like he did something must have been done to compromise the integrity of Impact baseball. Andy started Impact baseball and is the driving force behind it's success. Since Andy started Impact baseball 100% of all it's players that have gone through it's program have signed with colleges.

I don't think I'm being harsh at all. Maybe Partin did it in anger and regrets it. But it was still a pretty cheap shot. He has removed the comment from his site, so he must have caught some grief about it, or calmed down and realized he was wrong.

100% of Impact's players have NOT signed with colleges. You're talking about the Dirtbags, which is a separate, though interlinked, corporation. Which is what led to the controversy involving the recent Dirtbags "showcase"

I don't know Partin and have no doubt that he's a good guy. Regardless of what led to the separation, Partin handled this poorly.

Just a few things to think about. Not taking sides.

Austin Alexander - what is his backround, where did he obtain his baseball knowledge. College coach with a wealth of knowledge. Well liked by the players he coached at the college level as well as his peers.

Andy Partin - what is his backround, where did he obtain his baseball knowledge. What was his reasoning for starting Impact Baseball. Who is on his staff. Who are the officers of the corporation. He is the president of Impact Baseball.

Dirtbag baseball - The president and owner is Tracy Partin. Who are the officers of the corporation.

There was a big write up on both sites about Austin Alexander joining Impact Baseball.................then 5 months later he is permanently dismissed from the company.......posted on the front page of the website they quickly removed.

In any organization there will be differences, employees come and go but the manner in which it is communicated displays the maturity level of the organization.

Make you wonder about the organization and motives behind it.

Just my opinion and only my opinion.
Lets see do you think these kids signed because they played or play for Impact? Or maybe they signed because they can play period. Why do you think they were selected to play for Impact in the first place? Impact is no different in this regard than anyother quality showcase team be it the Carolina Cubs, Copperheads, On Deck O's etc. There are kids that sign every year that do not play on any showcase teams they play football or just choose to play Legion etc. Andy provides a great service by getting these boys seen by alot of people. And so does the other clubs in the state ran by some great baseball guys. But they are not training them or coaching them into a posistion to be good enough to be offered scholarships. They go out find some great talent and then put them on the field for others to see. Whatever happened in this situation between Austin and Andy obviously was not good. The mere fact that it was worded the way it was tells you that. Otherwise why not just say "Austin Alexander has decided to step down from Impact Baseball and pursue other interests. We wish him well." Or just say that "Austin Alexander will no longer be with Impact Baseball we wish him well". Something along those lines would have not stirred the post so to speak like it has. I would be willing to bet that Austin will at some point and time have his say. We will see. But there is nothing stopping anyone from canvassing the state and selecting talented players and taking them to showcase events. The fact is these players have put themselves in a posistion to be sought after by college coaches and showcase teams. I do believe that the people like Andy Partin and Ricky Keith with the Cubs along with several others do a great service by providing these young men with the venue to showcase their talents. But the bottom line is if the get a ride they earned it not Impact or anyone else.
Gamer my fault I was aware of that. On Deck runs one heck of a program thats for sure. Do the Megastars do the same thing? If Im not mistaken don't they take all their players from the same areas for the most part? By the way is your youngest going to go up to TR's showcase this summer? Mine is going in July I will be going up as well. Good luck this season. Its right around the corner.
Hello Coach,

I have seen the Megastars play quite a few games - but I am not sure exactly how their program is run.

Great to hear your youngest is going to Norwich. You guys will love that one. We just got K's schedule yesterday - and it looks like he will be in East Cobb that weekend.

Wish I could go up there with you all.

Hope to see you this summer - and - schedules permitting - maybe get you over to the house for dinner.

Best regards
I agree the Coach Alexander issue should have been handled differently....however, Andy Partin and Impact Baseball has helped many North Carolina players get to the next level.

My son played the last 2 seasons with Impact and had a very good experience and Andy played a major role in getting him seen by the right people.

You are right it is between them and should be handled by them. However...Once you throw it out on a website in a derogatory fashion people are going to comment. It just isn't appropriate to put out there, and obviously Andy thought better of it and took it off the site.

My opinion of both men is favorable and any issues should remain private.
In looking at the IMPACT situation as it appears to be right now, I believe that we should not jump to conclusions until both sides are out in the open.

Honestly, I feel like this is a private matter between Andy and AA and should not be in the public view anyway, whatever led to AA leaving.

Andy is a hard worker and has built IMAPCT into a reputable organization whether you like him or not. I had an excellent experience coaching his 18U team last summer. If I get another opportunity to do that, I would love to, but he does work to get his guys seen by entering teams in tournaments so that can happen. He gives them the opportunity, but then it is up to the players to perform.

As far as AA goes, maybe he has a better offer, only Andy and he knows the reasons but for us to sit here and speculate only can harm either or both their reputations unnecessarily.

Just think about that for a minute.
Yep Coach Evans,

It's just like Mr. Jerry Ford says in new Showcase movie, "the rest is up to the player".

A prospect can feel fortunate to have at least "one" of the opportunities in a lifetime to perform in front of the "right people".

Impact baseball is going to provide many of those opportunities for players in the next couple of years, I can assure you-lol

Hey Coach, have you forgotten about ole boy Shep. Living in another state, thinking about getting back in if offer right.

Shep
