District 5-5A

I will have done much scouting in this district and I have to agree with you on coppell and FM Marcus being top teams in this district, with the pitching staff to prove this. with Flowermound not to far behind. Top 4 make playoffs and I believe it will end like this

1.Flowermound Marcus
2.Coppell
3.Flowermound
4.Lewisville
5.Hebron
6.Denton Ryan

Lewisville is the bubble team, have very 3 average arms, average defense, one legit D1/ beyond, hitter who is out with injury. Once he returns back into the field I belive we will see a way different Lewisville team to watch.

Flowermound has shown great offense thus far in the season, very impressed by BJ Meyers, was 88-91 with above average slider.

Yep Niko Buentello is a great player.  Hit a walk off against Hebron in extras tonight on his first game back.  Flower Mound beat Marcus tonight as well.  Flower Mound seems to be top dog

There are some very good teams in this district with Coppell, Marcus & Flower Mound having great pitching. The biggest difference maker so far has been Flower Mounds defense.

We're entering the second swing through District 5-5A this week. Each team in the district has now played each other once. It will be interesting to see how some of the pitching match-ups will change, if at all. Hey... sgurksnis, it's great to see you following the progress of 5-5A. Keep the posts coming.

Great game last night in Coppell as Flower Mound goes to 7-0 in district play. While the bats did come alive, Flower Mound's pitching & defense continue to make the difference.

Last night's game between Flower Mound and Coppell was indeed a great performance by the Flower Mound pitcher and a solid defense behind him. The hitting and quality at-bats by Flower Mound showed guts and purposeful hitting up and down the line up. Hats off to Coppell who battled all 7 innings.

Know Jake all to well, my son and him have played against each other since they were 9yrs old.  Time flys!

Maybe district not quite as good as touted with 3 of 4 teams exiting in first round.  A shout out to 4-5A who advanced 3 of 4 with the 4th place team Keller playing Martin tough before losing out.

While as a knee jerk reaction I might have agreed with that assessment, each teams body of work outside of this district speaks for itself. Not real sure what happened with Coppell as I still believe they're a better team than Heritage is. As for Flower Mound, the boys had a great run for a team that was supposed to finish as a afterthought in this district going into the season. Unfortunately, after game one of the series the boys just didn't play the way that they did during the 20 game win streak that they had heading into the playoffs. Hats off the LD Bell as they played great baseball over the last two days.........Flower Mound will definitely make some noise again next season.

I see FM is ranked #5 in the Nation according to Maxpreps. That is solid! Not too many years ago they were the new kids on the block. Now they are the kings of the hill... Congrats!

Coppell dominated game one but Heritage pinned their ears back in game two and tightened up their defense. Game 3 could have been any bodies but Heritage wanted it more. Coppell impressed me with their solid defense and pitching but they were not as impressive at the plate. Heritage is more balanced team and I believe is the better team. Plus they're playing next week and Coppell is sitting at home. 

Anyone know what's become of Shane Henderson former Flower Mound P?

I think he may have been at Grayson last couple of years but can't find

him now.
