District Playoff Format

I could be wrong, but I think it's the top 4 teams in each district.

Top 4 in 5A only. The rest is top 3.

Next year, 4A will also allow 4 teams to the playoffs in all sports.

If I'm not mistaken, until state, the coaches meet before the game and flip a coin. The winner of this flip gets to choose wether to play a one or three game series. Is this right?

Yes they flip for anything they can't agree on.Sometimes even how much the candy bars are going to cost in the concession stand.

Last year a school used a DF....Designated Flipper. Or was that a designated negotiator?

I'm sure this year Poteet will just ask all of its competitors what they want to do, they are so good it won't matter who, where, when or how many. Maybe they will get a bit of a challenge when they get to CC Moody.

Well...NO! I am in the kitchen on one end of the island downloading pictures of our games onto my computer. Robert is at the other end of the island on his laptop reading the paper, etc...

At the conclusion of disrict play, if 2 or more teams are tied for the final playoff spot, what is the tie-breaking procedure?

If there are two teams, you go head to head, if it was a split the coaches decide to play it off or they can coin flip. If there are 3 teams, you flip for the bye, then have a 3 team playoff. So the winner of the flip gets a bye, the other 2 teams play and the winner of that plays the winner of the coin flip to see who is in. Of course these scenerios are for a tie for third place, it can change things if it were a tie for second. I have no clue what would happen if it were a 4 way tie for third.

I believe each district may have their own tie-breaker guidelines. Robert indicates theirs. I don't know the rules in 9-5A.
