One consideration is the new rule change in D1 baseball and how it affects summer baseball. I do believe it is now against the rules for a D1 player to play on any summer team that also accepts J.C. players.

I could be wrong.. could others weigh in?

If so, it is a consideration because oftentimes summer development for players who received little playing time at their D1 schools is crucial. Bum, Jr. went D1 to D1 so has to sit out a year but it's worth it to go back to a top summer league team (Northwoods).

A player going 4-2-4 might have trouble finding a good summer team.
Playing Division 1 then going back to a Juco for the sophomore year is commonly called a "bounceback".

For whatever reason they happen on a consistent basis. I could name dozens last year alone. PM me and I will tell you.

My son is one of them.

This is the detail. All Juco players are draft eligible. The D1 to Juco player is called a 4-2-4 transfer. Meaning the player went from a 4 year school to a 2 year school and to get back to a ncaa 4 year school he has to have earned his AA or 48 transferable units ( to the academic standard of the transferring school).

It is a bit of a tough road at juco if the student fell behind in his freshman year academically but no so much if he stayed on track.

absolutely incorrect.

go to the eauclarie express northwoods team roster. "yavapai sends 4 to eauclaire" artice. yavapai is a 2 year school. Northwoods is a premier league and PG rated EauClaire the #1 team last year.
