Southern Conn. at #26 clearly makes you wonder if these pollsters really check out anything before they cast their entry. Franklin Pierce at #21 was beaten 4 out of 5 meetings with S. Conn. last year. Southern did'nt loose a single pitcher off last years staff which lead DII in ERA. Are these people that are voting really baseball people?? What a joke!!

Actually it's not a joke. Southern Connecticut State got worse offensively. FPC is just as good offensivley as it was last year and the pitching staff is ten times better. They have 8 pitchers who can touch or throw in the 90's. Their pitching staff may be the best in Division II this year. Their team is looking at as many as 4-10 players going to the 2006 Draft. It's all going to come down to how good certain players perform this season. FPC is basically stacked.

Shep,
First of all Congrats on winning the regular season conference. FP does have a great team this year. But, I really don't see where SCSU got worst offensively. 4-10 players going in the draft? (maybe 4-5 (which is still great!). IMO all the top teams in the NE-10 are pretty awesome teams (SCSU,Stonehill, and Lowell) Just for the record... FP is 3-4 against these other teams this season. Should be a great Conference Tournament and Regional. Good Luck and may the the team that wins kick butt in the series.

4-5 is what it will most likely be, but their are 10 players overall that are being looked at by scouts on a regular basis. SoCo did get worse offensiv;ey, especially when they lost Jeremy Terni one of their best hitters.
Shep,
Maybe I'm reading the stats wrong... so I checked again... Seems this years team is ahead in every offensive stat then in 2005.and Ortiz is leading the NE-10 in BA. Jeremy was a great player last year but, was playing hurt most of it. With a team BA up almost 25 points this year I would say SCSU is a more rounded team offensively and is'nt depending on one player to get them going.

You're right about all that. I just thought in my own opinion that they were better last year. I didn't look at stats I just judged it off of how they looked when they played us. We got to see them 5 times last year and got to know them pretty well. We also playd them early in this years season and maybe their offense wasn't clicking yet, but it seemed weaker than last season. But anyways you're probably right, I was just too lazy to look up the stats.
