Not to disrespect you but you are old enough and intelligent enough to look up Babson College and find out what Division they are in

Yes they are Division III and TOUGH academically. They are also one of the best business schools in the country

As JT notes they have $$$ but is need based or academically based

Great facility-- we have a player from our program up there now and another headed there in the fall
cub1jon,

Division 3 colleges cannot offer athletic scholarships - that is, they cannot give you baseball money. Any reduction you receive on the cost of a D3 school would be for:

Academic scholarships based on things like grades and ACT or SAT scores;
Need-based financial aid which depends on your parents completing a FAFSA form; or
Other miscellaneous scholarships (like a local group awarding $500 based on an essay contest you enter through your high school).

It can be surprising how the financial aid can vary at different D3 schools. One school might cost a total of $20,000 per year but only offer the student $2,000 in total financial aid, while a more expensive D3 at $36,000 might offer $18,000 in total aid, making the out-of-pocket cost (to you and your parents) the same ($18,000) for both schools. Some colleges will have an area on their website which tells you the average financial aid being received by their current students. And a few schools even publish a specific academic aid policy, something like 25% tuition reduction if you have a certain high school GPA and ACT/SAT score. But in most cases you will need to have some discussions with the Admissions and Finanical Aid departments at the colleges you are most interested in, and ask your parents to complete a FAFSA to get some idea of how much aid your family might receive.

You can find out a LOT more about the FAFSA and financial aid in general at:
http://www.fafsa.org

And you or your parents can fill out a preliminary FAFSA-type questionairre to start to get an idea of the total amount most colleges would expect YOU to pay out of pocket (your Expected Family Contribution), at:
http://www.fafsa.org/calculators/finaidestimate.phtml

Good luck!

trhit i checked the site and one time i thought it said ivy league but i was checkin and the plesae that i saw it was under construction. but another site said it was div. 3, so i was just checking with yall nothing wrong with tha is it? but thnx for the info. i was lookin into babson because its a good academic school so i thought i would check into for baseball
hey its called talking according to who your talking to. because i am on the internet i dont worry about spelling things right. however if i was doing a job interview or something different it would be different. its a shame that your tryin to get smart with a 15 year old. shows that you must have been pick on when u was a kid or your jus crzay. do u have somethign agsint me even though you dont know me? u keep tlakin negatively
My son was heavily recruited by Coach Noone at Babson...it is app 10 min from our home...exquisite campus with an outstanding field...the deciding factor that swayed him against going there(other than it was too close to home) was that freshman year you must plan a business and by senior year it must be up and running..he felt strongly that he would not be able to handle sports and academics and be successful at both...BTW your SAT scores must be in and around the 1200 mark with a high GPA as well...there are many other D3 schools here in Ma that do not have such high requirements...keep searching ...you will find one Smile
to catchermom 03:
i was looking at babson because i heard so many good things about babson as far as academics and the idea that you start your own business. the site said that the cost starts at about $41,000 a year and i was hoping that i could get on a baseball scholarship but i just found out that you dont get any from div. 3 schools. i have good grades but i doubt that they give many full tuition. not to be doin anything illegal but have you heard of school gettin u money if you are good enough even if its a div 3 school?

to Pirate:
in case you can't comprehend what i said in this thread i said that i personally heard that if your good enough in baseball that they will find money to give you. so i did not say anything stupid or wrong
I think you need comprehension. plus do you have somethign against me?

to everyone:
does anyone else feel that pirate fan is being rude to a 15 year young man for no reason?
Cub....let it go....it's part of posting....take what you think is good....and forget the rest....

There is no athletic money at D3's....as has been previously stated....but there is academic, and in many cases....(excluding maybe the top 10% of the HS players in the country).......it can exceed what you might receive in athletic money. The key is.....grades and SAT's.....it helps give the Coach ammunition when and if he goes to bat for you with the financial aid office.....
I've never heard of a full academic ride....so it might be good to look at other schools....just in case.

MN-Mom's post was full of valuable information.....

Good luck......
PF,
it's all good! A couple of yeras (see what I mean?) ago on a stock market site I went off on this guy because his posts were so badly written. He disappeared for about two days then came back with this lengthy, lengthy post which consisted of NOTHING but errors I'd made in posting on that thread over the prior year and a half! Obviously the guy was insane, but he made a point!
Good Luck to Your Steelers -- Grandma and Grandpa lived up on Mount Nebo (Roosevelt Road) forever and I'm a big fan of the Pirates and Steelers.

There are many people who graduate from college now that have bad spelling and typing habits. OR
Their ar meny poepel who gratiate from colidge now that hvae bad speling nd tieping habits.
Also, too many rely on spell and grammer check on Microsoft Word and similar programs to do the editing for them. Too, two, and to are all spelled correctly though and There and their are also. So are we spelling incorrectly or just don't know which word means what. A friend of mine said that his oldest daughter's spelling is very bad and she is in graduate school. As far as picking on 15 year olds, well honestly if that was the intent here, I didn't pick it up. I took it as trying to be helpful. If one doesn't want help, then keep driving people away and that day will come.
Tim Robertson
tim rob u have to see another thread that pirate responded to in the umpires theads. and he says "So what.
Why would an ump care how fast you run the 60?" after i said "hello im 15 years old and play the outfield. my 6o time is 6.74 . how would you score that as good or bad or need improvement."

why did he have to say that why not say nothing at all.

i understand that spelling is important and when it comes to offline i spell correctly but because this is online im more relaxed about my spelling. and for the record not to make me look like a dumb kid my academics are good i go to one of the top academic schools in the state of maryland and the nation, get good grades and still have time to play sports
cub

Once again you are missing the point of this thread. There have been 3 other posters who have said the same thing. Your grades are very important, and are key to you advancing to the next level. But yet you are still trying to create an argrument that is not there.

As the thread in the umpire forum states; Coach coach, players play and umpires ump.
Like I said, as an ump "So what".

You can accept the advise of several other posters or you can continue to act in the same manner as you are. Either way it's up to you to decide.
well like i said i know, understand, and put academics before baseball. if you say "so what" is an ump how come not just say anything at all? well pirate can you answer this? as a person that likes baseball (not an ump) and seen many people play, do you know if 6.74 for 60 is good? can you answer that last question and then i wont say anything else what about your first and other comments ?
Cub1jon,

Both of my sons went to Private DIII schools and played baseball.

They both got very good financial aid pacakages, that made it cheaper to send my sons to the private schools then the local state colleges. Both boys had good ACT scores (28 & 32)

Did the fact that they play baseball affect the financial aid package? There is no way for me to tell. I do know that if a private school wants a particular student (athlete or not) they ususally have the means to make it happen.

But the general rule for DIII is that what ever the student-athlete gets must be available to the non-athlete stundent as well.

BTW a 6.74 60 is fast even on the pro scale.

Going to jump on this thread again.....and say YES!!! At a D3 you can end up with more academic scholarship money than you would have received at a D1 in athletic scholarship......happened to us.....and many others I'm sure......but bottom line.....need to look at a lot of variables when it comes to choosing a school.....and that's been covered on other threads.......money important, but so are academics, campus life, anticipated position and playing time on team....coach.....teammates.....and on....and on.....son's D3 school was his first pick.....his GPA and SAT's helped make it affordable.....
