Clayton has been getting a lot of positive attention as of late and deservedly so.
Thought I'd pass along today's DMN article:

By TIM MACMAHON / The Dallas Morning News

What he did: Kershaw hit two home runs in a 10-1 win over Wylie on Friday. It was the first multi- homer game for Kershaw, who finished 3-for-4. On the mound, he allowed no runs, one hit, struck out seven and walked one in five innings to earn the win that clinched a playoff berth.

Clayton Kershaw The stats: Kershaw is 9-0 with a 0.46 ERA and 104 strikeouts in 46 innings. He has allowed 12 hits and 21 walks. He leads area Class 4A pitchers in ERA and strikeouts and is tied with Waxahachie's Cole Lohden for the most wins. He is hitting .385 with five homers and 22 RBIs.

Who is he? Kershaw is a 6-4, 210-pound senior left-hander who signed with Texas A&M as a pitcher. He also plays first base.

He said it: "I never hit home runs when I was little, so it was awesome. I just swung at the first pitch every time. They threw fastballs, and I hit them."

Coach said it: "Between his pitching and his hitting, he's kind of a one-man wrecking crew in a lot of games. We're certainly glad he's on our side." – Lew Kennedy

Did you know? Kershaw is No. 1 in Baseball America's ranking of senior high school prospects released last week. He was No. 34 in the preseason rankings. Mansfield right-hander Jordan Walden moved down from No. 1 in the preseason to No. 7.

PD - I prefer the 3 game series as well but were I a HS coach, I would find it hard to not opt for a one game series if I had a pitcher as dominant as Clayton has been.

Don't know if it's still done this way but I understand that Oklahoma used to play their HS playoffs with a three-team mini tournament each weekend and the winner would advance to another three team series and so on. Seems like that third team would make things more interesting and not stretch the tournament out so long.
