Generally not in the same sense as a NLI. It was our experience that you will know who wants you and if you ask the right questions of the right people where you stand. The schools have no idea who is coming or not until deposits are made in May.

During the recruiting process last fall, my son was being looked at by several D3 schools. Son asked each coach during the college visit whether they were offering him a roster spot or would he be trying out. The key to their interest in him was that offered roster spot, follow-up calls on a regular basis from the head coach or the recruiting assistant coach, an invite for an overnight visit. Good luck!

I think another sign of commitment would be help with the admissions department for a school that might normally be an "academic reach."

Thats good to hear, we have had a lot of those things happen with a school my son has as his first choice and it just makes you feel uneasy when there is nothing on paper.
