How do you develop your pitchers? Do they have specific "pitching practice" where they are on mound getting specific instruction? Do you expect them to get outside help in off season? Our starters(3) get 1 or 2 starts a week, do pretty good, but our bottom 3 guys don't see the mound in 3 weeks, but do nothing in between that time with pitching/practicing. When we have to throw them in an inning or two, it's not good. Just wanting to know how your program works with pitchers over the season and in off season(if they do).
thanks.

I do a mock game in the bull pen.

First i take any batter that is having trouble seeing the ball and give them a helmet and a sawed off wood bat (just something to put in their hands). Then I have them stand in the batters box in the bull pen.

Then i have the pitcher throw a live game scenerio. Catcher is the ump. He call balls and strikes. If the batter can hit it he swings. The catcher calls out some result. Foul, Strike, Single.

Then they play on. Put a pitch count on him and that is about it.
