My question today is to all Coaches,Dads, and Moms. How important is High School Baseball to determine a players future. My son is a great athlete works very hard to keep moving to the next level. His JV team is loaded with great players. If he went to any other local school he would be starting Varsity. He has a large group of friends he has made thru the years so transfering is not a option. Next year he will move up to Varsity as a junior and might not get a starting position, not because of talent but politics. My question is if he plays perfect games and other camps and showcases can his future be on the bright side even if his school playing is low. Does Colleges determine a players future by there High School stats.

I think if you hang out on these message boards long enough you'll find that the considered opinion of most is no, high school stats are not a determining factor. Marketing yourself through letters, video, showcases, camps will overcome whatever shortfall a lack of playing time may bring you. I'm sure any college coach would probably want to know why you weren't playing, but he's going to believe his eyes more than what he sees in the box scores. JMO.
