James River 4, Clover Hill 0. In a game played in about 75 minutes, JR got all of its runs on a solo homer by A.J. Prill in the 2nd and a 3-run shot by Austin Stadler in the 3rd. Daniel Marrs extended his scoreless inning string to 18 innings with a complete game shutout. With several pro scouts and Stalker RADAR guns on hand, Clover Hill's Sean Tierney was mostly upper 80's, topped out at 91, Marrs low 90's, topped out at 95. James River's 5th shutout in an 8-0 start to the season (6-0 in district).

Awaiting other results, esp. the first Huguenot-Wythe matchup -- the battle for NOT last place!

Well, I've always thought so!

But back to the news. The rest of the scores were:

Cosby 5, L.C. Bird 1. Ronnie Shaban continued his excellent season with a complete game, backed by Jake Lowery's HR. Bird continues to swirl in the tank, quite unexpected (at least by me).

Midlothian 8, Manchester 6: Lots of hitting in this on, but in the end the Trojans stayed just one game back of JR and sent the Lancers into a three-way tie for third.

Huguenot 11, Wythe 1: Falcons win city bragging rights with a "slaughter rule" victory.

Monacan was idle this time.
