Clover Hill was idle, and Monacan and Midlothian got the easy wins over Huguenot and Wythe, leaving two key matchups.

In the afternoon game, James River survived a game effort from Cosby, 10-6. Daniel Marrs took his scheduled start despite the distraction of a family tragedy and clearly was not himself, allowing Cosby to take a 5-2 lead after 4, JR persisted, getting 2 to close to 5-4 after 5, 4 to take the lead in the 6th, and a 2-run HR by Austin Stadler to salt it away in the 7th. Ronnie Shaban led Cosby with 2 hits including a blasted 3-run HR.

Results from the late game, Manchester at L.C. Bird, are not yet available. Manchester needs a win to hold onto 4th place and thus stay in the playoff hunt. Bird, after a horrific first half, is now playing better and coming off a solid win over Clover Hill.

In the night game, Manchester beat Bird at Bird, 12-8. Chris Hardee did it all for Manchester, hitting a 3-run HR to put Manchester safely ahead early, starting on the hill, and after being relieved for a few innings' respite, returning to close for the save. With the win, Manchester climbed back into 4th place by 1/2 game over Monacan, keeping themselves in the playoff picture.

Tomorrow's games are in jeopardy, as the fields are all taking a pretty good soaking right now and it's predicted we'll get more thunderstorms around game time Thursday.

P.S. Daniel doesn't want to use the excuse, but I'll do it for him. Thanks for the sentiments.
