Three teams entered Tuesday undefeated, but Manchester took its first loss, 10-6 to visiting Cosby. Cosby has no seniors but has taken a "make no excuses" attitude and is playing everyone tough, now 2-2 in district losing only to Midlo and James River. Ronnie Shaban had 2 HR's yesterday and closed the game for Cosby on the hill as well.

Midlothian was idle, unless you count heading over to James River to watch JR's game vs. defending state champ Monacan as being active. James River's bats have been cold of late and they were quite fortunate to escape with a 1-0 win in a game where Monacan had runners on base in each of the first 6 innings. Austin Stadler made the play of the game when he took what appeared to be a sure-thing sac fly and nailed the runner at home from reasonably deep right field in the 5th, stopping what would have been the tying run. On the positive side, it was JR's 4th shutout in its first 6 games. JR goes to Midlo on Thursday, where the winner will take undisputed possession of first place. JR is more highly ranked at present, but Midlo is playing better right now. Pitching matchup should be Stadler vs. Tyler Wilson, one of the nation's best junior lefties vs. one of the nation's best senior righties. I'm sure someone will score eventually!

It took a trip to hapless Huguenot to do it, but L.C. Bird finally got off the schneid with a win there. Clover Hill also cruised over George Wythe. Bird rates as the biggest disappointment as we reach the one-third mark of the season, while Manchester is the district's suprise team with Cosby right on their heels.

Midlo Dad:

I know from the 2010 thread that:

Matt Houston - P/OF, Fredericksburg Christian.

Is this up in your area? Another Conference?
Any news on how's he doing? JV/Varsity?

3up-3down,

Thanks for the reply. Not surprised to hear about Matt's success. Is Matt being afforded the oppourtunity to hit; the young man can stroke a baseball.

Yes, my Kyle was the SS/P; our 2nd Baseman was also named Kyle. He had played with Performance, the two years prior.

I believe we played you all in the semi-final of States last year. Yes, it was a good game; I recall our outfielders had trouble with the lights on that field.

As you can see from a previous post of mine, there are a few Driller players starting to filter into their respective High School Varsity Teams as Freshman and Sophmore's. I am sure this is to be the same for the Midlothian Wildcats.

The Dominion District has 9 schools, two from the City of Richmond south of the James River, and the remaining 7 from Chesterfield County, from the courthouse area north to the city line.

So Fredericksburg is not in our area. Plus, the Dominion is a public school AAA district, no private schools in it.

Sounds like a great player, though, wish we could get to see him!
