Sounds like fun--- why not make it 5 from each league so that at bats balance out a bit better
Good idea, although some of the good ones have been switching leagues lately.

I can't find the time but I'd get a kick out of hearing some of you guys go round and round during the season.

Start of the season? Are we going to just track what happens next season? I was going to try to find lifetime head to head stats so I was going to just pick pitchers who spent a large part of their careers in one league or the other.
I'll go ahead and post my pitchers and you can tell me if you want me to change the league I've got them under.
AL - Clemens, Martinez, Rivera, Hudson, Pettite.
NL - Johnson, Smoltz, Prior, Gagne, Schilling.
Now don't go searching for hitters who've had good success against these guys, just give me your 5 best hitters from each league.
I got Pettite in there just for you.
We'll also have to figure out what stat to use for comparison. I'd go with Batting Average just because it might be easiest to find.

Found a site with the database. Once you give me the hitters I can go back and do batter vs. pitcher for each hitter since 1987 and then compare that to their overall performance since 1987. It'll take a while but it can be done.
