Don't you love 5th game tourney finals: rowlett 14, LH 11 in GP

Ringer1 son got up at 5am to be at the field house by 5:45am. He didn't get home till 12:30am. He would have came home sooner but he had to go to Whataburger with the team to celebrate. He got up at 7am to go to work this morning. AHHH, to be young again!!!

The Championship game between Lake Highlands and Rowlett was a doosie. Both teams were down to their last arms. LH started an inexperienced Left-handed Junior (Bott) who has been playing down on JV predominantly but is on the Varsity Roster. Bott gave it his all but the Rowlett bats jumped on him quickly and often. They scored 5 Runs in 1 1/2 Innings. Bott was replaced by Soph 2nd baseman (Burns) who kept LH in the game until the bottom fell out in the 5th Inning. Until then, the score was Rowlett 5 LH 4. Both teams hit very well. In the end, both teams hoisted a trophy in the air. This was a big time tournament for Lake Highlands who found their bats and demonstrated they could play with anyone. Victories over South Garland, Plano, Arlington and Garland added to their confidence. Up until the Championship Game, LH Pitchers (Woods, Busse, Jaggers and Finklea) gave up a total of eight runs in four games. LH scored a total of 47 Runs for the entire tournament.

Congratulations to the Grand Prairie Tournament Champion Rowlett Eagles. Hope to see you in the playoffs.

Byron Burns is a sophomore, if anyone's counting. It's always interesting to see the 4th and 5th games of tournaments, because you really get a good idea of how deep teams are, plus coaching really comes into play.

Good win for Rowlett. Should be interesting to see where these two teams end up at the end of the year.

You have to give props to these young pitcher's coming into the late games. They are probably nervous and keyed up trying to prove themselves. Sometimes they do remarkable things. Glad for them to get the chance, as during the season most coaches only use a few pitchers.

Sounds like you have a son on Lake Highlands. My son played ball with one of your young pitchers last summer on the Dallas Mustangs (17U). Kid was youngest kids on the team (think he played up) so I know he didn't graduate, but haven't seen his name mentioned anywhere. Good kid and had some nasty stuff on the mound, but could bring it. He bailed us out on several occassions against some of the best hitters in the state.

Do you know who I am talking about and how is he doing? Good kid and son really enjoyed being on the team with him.

Looks like you guys are in a tough district and hopefully this tourny will kick start a strong run.
