We've set up our tournament schedule through June and I noticed there are no double elimination tournaments.

They are all basically pool play Fri and Sat and single elimination on Sunday.

Is this pretty typical? Last year, we had a couple double elimination tournaments where we were able to battle back from the loser bracket and play in champion round. But, single elimination seems like a good team could get eliminated early if they have bad luck in the draw.

BTW, this is youth 11-12 travel baseball.

This is almost all of what we see in Arizona. 2-3 pool play. They sort out the top teams and they battle it out. One and done. They usually have 2 or 3 diferent tiers after the pool play. So that three teams have a chance to win a "championship". It really stinks if you have a bad game. The goal is to play well enough to make the top tier but save your good pitching for the tournament rounds. Sometimes it doesn't work out.
I've only been seeing double eliminations in World Series/National Championship type play. It all boils down to profit for the tournament director. Another game will cost him field time and $60 or more for umps.

There used to be a USSSA guy in St. Louis that used to give you more games like that but now he's hiding from people he owes money to, so I hear.
