Dr. Tom Hanson

I saw this guy's presentation several years ago. Part of a tournament dinner or something. Do you really think young boys playing baseball need a sports psychologist?

I have gotten all the free stuff online and endorse the concepts he presents. I have bought and highly recommend his book "Heads-Up Baseball" by Haanson and Ravizza. It lays out an excellent mental approach to the game for those seeking peek performance.

I have heard Tom Hansen lecture and thoroughly enjoyed it. I've read his book and feel that there are many important pieces that can help even young players. If older players including those playing in the bigs see sports psychologists, why should it not follow that younger players could also be having difficulty with the mental side of the game.

My personal source in this area is "Head Games" by Walter Herbison. My son and I have listened to his CD while driving to tournaments and it is terrific. My son did have a 1 on 1 with Herbison at the beginning of this season and he feels that it really helped him to focus and learn how to visualize success. Good stuff.

IMHO, the best book in this area of info is THE MENTAL EDGE by Kenneth Baum. Great stuff, very readable.
