A friend had put some numbers together pretty quickly last night, just thought i would share. Shows how tough it really is. The great thing about this site is that we know from the experiences many have shared that it's not where you start out- but end up. The journeys along the way make us all stronger. Hat's off to all who are making the journey.

Out of the 1500 + drafted - 800 were pitchers. Position players have a tough haul for sure. In all there were 214 ptichers drafted as JR's in college; 245 HS'ers; 130 Juco's (surprising more d-2 's than d-1's); 177 SR's in college, and about 30 from NS, sophmore and other.

If your a position player, you may have to be one of the best 12 juco players at your position country wide (based on an even distribution of the other 8 positions, not neccesarily reality, but a good starting point). HS - you would be top 30; JR or SR in college = top 20 at your class level.

Drafted by position...1st b = 71; 2nd b = 54; 3rd = 62; Catcher = 136; SS = 125; CF = 126, RF = 55; LF = 42; generic OF = 41.

catcher, and SS being most sought after Position Players, OF, 1st, 3rd and 2nd rounding things out. 3 utility, 3 inf and 1 dh (bet he can hit).

In all there were 225 +/- Juco's; 390 juniors, 350 SR's, and 500 HS'ers drafted.

Good luck to all!
