Maybe I'm biased, but I'm surprised to see the state of Virginia that low. With the amount of talent that has come through the state recently, I would have guessed that number would be much higher.
Does anyone have the stats by states population also? I would be curious to see that. Also, for basketball and football. Some states have a preference for those sports.
Here is the link that includes the top 10 based on population. Sorry, I posted the wrong thing. It's listed at the top, Titled "California, Florida Top Talent Producers"
Thanks PG. It is nice to know that my home state has a nice percentage also. I bet states like Ohio and Michigan and Pennsylvania would rank very high if we had access to the same stats based on football or basketball.
These stats were compiled by Allan Simpson and are based on where the player attended high school. So if he went to high school in Texas and got drafted out of a Louisiana college, he is counted as a Texas player.
We were all a bit surprised by some states being a bit higher or lower in some cases.
